Who We Are & What We Believe

Our faith is rooted in the teachings of the New Testament and the example of the early church.

We believe:

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our only guide for faith and practice.

  • Salvation comes through faith, repentance, confession, and baptism into Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

  • The church is the body of Christ, made up of believers working together in love and unity.

  • We gather each Sunday to worship simply — through prayer, singing, communion, giving, and studying God’s Word.

  • Every Christian is called to serve others and share the message of Christ.

Our goal is to speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where the Bible is silent — always striving to live by God’s Word.

Our History

The Sorrento Hills church of Christ, located in Sorrento, Florida, was planted in 2016 with a small group of faithful Christians who desired to share God’s Word in their community.

For the first four years, the congregation met in homes — worshiping, studying, and saving with the goal of one day having a permanent place to gather. In 2020, through God’s providence and the generosity of His people, they were able to purchase a building.

Since then, the church has grown from just 18 members to more than 80! In 2023, Sorrento Hills welcomed Dylan Johns as its minister, and in 2024 the congregation was blessed to appoint elders and deacons:

  • Elders: Byron Chapman, Kevin Jonas, and Doug Mason

  • Deacons: Coit DuBose and Duamel Conde

God has continued to bless the church with growth and fruit. As our congregation continues to grow and outgrow its current building, the church family is prayerfully planning to build a larger, more accommodating facility on its property.

“So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.” — 1 Corinthians 3:7
